But perhaps the best part of the game's graphics is the bosses. Most of them look like parts of a monster, such as a "brain" boss (which looks eerily similar to Life Force's first boss), an eyeball, and a giant cilia parasite. My particular favorite is a boss that looks somewhat human. A few moments after the battle with this boss begins, an alien-like creature springs out of its chest. Even some of the mini-bosses, such as that skeletal dog in the first level, look better than the main bosses of other games. The later levels of this game have more of a high-tech look to them, which is strange, but also reminiscent of Life Force.

Abadox is a video game for the NES, subtitled The Deadly Inner War. It is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up in the vein of Gradius and R-Type. The game is notable for its unique visual design, as the game takes place inside the intestinal tract of a giant alien organism. Abadox is also known to be difficult, since it takes one hit from an enemy projectile to be killed. In Abadox, if a player is killed, one must restart from a checkpoint passed before death.

Abadox: The Deadly Inner War follows the standard recipe for a scrolling shoot-em-up. You play a soldier trying to destroy the dreaded alien Parasitis which has engulfed the planet Abadox in order to rescue Princess Maria. You move around the screen and fire your weapon at the aliens. Power-ups will boost your speed, weapon power, and defense. Each stage has is infested with alien enemies, a miniboss, and an ending boss that you must defeat to advance to the next stage. There are many similarities with this game and Life Force (NES), like the internal alien body theme and the swapping of vertical and horizontal levels. Overall, the game is very difficult, but fun once you become good at it.
